8 Tips to Survive a Bad Day, Turn It Around
and Make It So Delightful that You Even Start Dancing with Joy
It's raining ☔️
The milk ran out, so no coffee.
It's one of those days.
But just because you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, it doesn't have to ruin your whole day.
I mean, in the grand scheme of things, our planet keeps spinning and it's not really a bad day. Only in your head 🧠
That's a good thing. It means, you also have the power to shift your mindset and turn it around!
Here are 8 tips, how:
Notice That You're Tense
As in any mindfulness practice, start by noticing your state. That you're uneasy, annoyed, grumpy.
You can't fix it unless you're aware of it.
Breathe
Really. A couple of conscious breaths can relax your body in less than a minute.
Combine it with a short meditation, if you prefer 🧘
Laugh at it
You know how you laugh in comedies when bad things happen to the characters? It's funny because it's happening to them, not you.
Well, now you're the main character, so laugh at your unfortunate situation 🤭
Set intention
Have a conversation with yourself that you're gonna turn your day around, and from now on it'll be awesome.
Do a little pep-talk in front of the mirror 🗣️🪞
Use gratitude
Chances are, even on your worst day you're more fortunate than many others. List in your head things that you're grateful for, and embrace them 🙏
Keep on adding to the list, and the bad mood will fade away.
Get out
Even if the weather is sh*t, you can still benefit from being outside. If possible, go for a little walk to recompile yourself.
Be kind to people
It often helps to snap out of a bad mood to talk kindly to the people around you.
Have small talks with the barista, your colleague, the security guard, and the cashier.
These quick interactions will fill you with positive emotions.
Dance
Some of movie history's best scenes are about the actors dancing on their own, in privacy, while nobody's watching.
It is sooo powerful to shift your mood. And you can do it literally anywhere.
Put on your favorite jam in your earphones, and have a mini silent disco party 🕺🪩
